Trump, Court Evangelicals & the State Church

A repugnant video is circulating, mainly on Facebook, but probably other platforms as well. It is a commentary on DJT’s address to evangelicals at a recent dinner, made by evangelicals to honor Trump. The link to said video is here:

Here’s my response:

“Christians,” who think Trump is someone able to give prophetic warnings (that are authoritative for the Church), are being deceived and manipulated.

THINK! Does any Christian sect believe that a president, or any other elected official, has spiritual authority to guide the Church?

IF YOU DO, then you have swallowed a poison that our nation’s founders warned against—State Church!! The USA may have been partly founded on Judeo-Christian values; but it is NOT a theocracy. The country has been favorable to Christianity; but you are ignorant of the Constitution, if you think Christianity is the only religion (or non-faith), which has freedom here. Ours is a democratic republic, but some extremist Christians—due to their fears, desire for power and self-protection—have been working for decades (along with the Catholic Church; see Evangelicals and Catholics Together) to create a Christian quasi-theocracy. These “Christians” are called dominionists or reconstructionists; they hold what is called “kingdom now” theology or Christian dominion theology or Christian Reconstructionism; it is based on Catholic “covenant replacement theology.” Proponents of these ideologies want Christian theonomy to rule the land and be supreme above all other codes, beliefs and lifestyles, and they are the sort of “Christians” that Trump was addressing.

This ideology is very similar to Islamic Jihad by Sharia. In other words, Trump is just patronizing his extremist constituents, because he represents the Republican Party… and he doesn’t want the party to lose.

Also, this sheister, speaking in the video, is playing on your fears! True Christianity does not live by “a spirit of fear, but of love, (spiritual) power and self-control.” Instead, this alarmist joker is blowing hot air to get “conservative Christians” in a tizzy of fear and to be insistent on “their rights.” It is not for Christians to assert and insist on enumerated rights that a government of this world has “granted” them.

If your freedoms can be taken away, then you were never free. Vote, yes… but do NOT fear and become reactionary to the “threat” your rights being taken away! Learn to live as (an oppressed) minority, like your brothers and sisters all over the world. Also, like Jesus, learn to posture yourself as a servant in society, instead of being the favored and privileged and superior. Genuine Christians across history—like Daniel and cohorts—simply obeyed God and accepted the consequences, believing God could deliver; and they were quick to add, “…but if not,” and they obeyed God anyway. That is genuine faith, not this American, commercialized, politicized, traditionalist, pretense of Christianity… not this institutional “church.”

The trouble with “the #Church” getting entangled in #politics is that doing good in Jesus’ name always gets lost in the process; and if it is not lost, then the travesty of dominionist #theocracy (a.k.a. #Christofascism) has taken over. Coercion or forced faith is never genuine.

Believers gather for the sake of faith in community. Bishops/pastors/elders & deacons betray them when claiming to represent the entire body’s beliefs to those outside of #church, namely politicians. Articles of faith or confessions meant for unity are weaponized for #Politics.

“Influence” (a.k.a. power from numbers) and/or andvancement and protection of interests are probable motives, and that smacks of David’s sin, whereby he was directly influenced by God’s adversary.

News! The #USA is not a #theocracy, and the politically-driven & entangled #Church is just as #corrupt and hypocritical as the secular world. Moreover, the Kingdom of Heaven cannot be legislated in or out of existence. It is transcendent!

Consider these Bible verses:

2 Tim. 1:7

for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Acts 14:22

…remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,”

John 16:33

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

John 15:20

Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.

Matthew 10:28

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Psalm 146:3

Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.

Phil. 2:5-9

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God, did not think equality to God was a thing to be clutched, rather he made himself nothing by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of mankind; and being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross…

1 Cor. 5:12-13

It isn’t my responsibility to judge outsiders, but it certainly is your responsibility to judge those inside the church who are sinning.
