The World will NOT “End” on September 23, 2017

Recently, Fox News ran an article, which ridicules a “Christian Numerologist/Astrologist,” David Meade, for claiming biblical prophecy asserts the world will end on September 23, 2017. Thankfully, the Fox News writer comes to the correct conclusion in the article by referring to a quote from author Jonathan Sarfati

As usual with any astrology (or Christian adaptations of it), one cherry-picks the stars that fit the desired conclusion,” Sarfati wrote, according to the Express. “There is nothing to suggest that 23 September is a momentous date for biblical prophecy, and Christians need to be careful about being drawn into such sensationalist claims.

The quote by Safari is as correct as it is direct and succinct. To the horror of true biblicist Christians, who study Bible Prophecy according to strict standards of interpretation, false teachers like David Meade represent a wide-spread plague of ancient mysticism (numerology, astrology and gematria) that has taken root in Charismatic and Evangelical Christianity. Fox News again correctly reports the sources of this date setting—being sourced in Egyptian, Jewish and Babylonian mystic teachings. These are used to interpret the Bible, instead of the Bible speaking from itself for itself. Therefore, it cannot be asserted that these teaching come from the Bible…. Rather they are being read into the Bible.

WHAT THE BIBLE ACTUALLY TEACHES ABOUT WHAT’S NEXT

When one reads phrases like, “the world will end on _______,” he/she should immediately recognize the comment is NOT sourced from the Bible.

The Bible NEVER teaches this world’s next event will be its utter end, in the sense that it would somehow stop existing… as if all of its creatures and physical matter would be annihilated into nothingness and time would cease in one feel swoop. What the Bible DOES teach is the progression of a set of events, which bring the world and its inhabitants into another age of existence (i.e. kind of life) on earth BEFORE this world is fully destroyed by God, who will finally create a new world.

THE AGE TO COME: THE HEREAFTER

Whereas God does not now directly show Himself and visibly intervene in the course of human existence, He will do so in the next age. Jesus (Yeshua) of Nazareth Himself will return as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords to directly and visibly rule the globe He created.

To teach about what precedes His coming Kingdom, Jesus Himself made prophecies of signal events and societal indicators that would happen just before a 7 year transition-period of the ages. He called these signal events and indicators “Birth Pangs” or “Beginning of Sorrows” or “First Things.” They serve as warnings… and they are occurring around the globe at the time this article is posted.

AFTER the Birth Pangs follow 7 years of global trouble, such as never has occurred before. If you think things are bad now, you have not seen anything yet. One marker among many signs of this period’s beginning is the resurrection of deceased believers and the rapture (lit. “taking up/away”, or vanishing – 1 Corinthians 15:51-52, 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18) of then-living believers. The other happenings of the time period will be terrible & horrifying events of God’s judgment upon the evil of the world (Revelation 4-19); but the events will not make a black void of the globe. The world will not “end.” Instead, these judgments will shake up the nations and their leaders, particularly the Jewish people. The course of the Gentiles’ time of world rulership will fully terminate (Romans 11:25); and the time for a Divine/ Jewish empire will arise. Great Tribulation judgments are necessary for preparing the world of mankind to receive its rightful King… to bring ecological restoration & balance, equity and righteousness back into the world. Some have referred to the events as the Apocalypse, or The Day of the Lord, or the Great Tribulation or Jacob’s Trouble or the 70th Week of Daniel. All of these names serve as titles for the same 7 year time period that usher in the establishment of Jesus’ global kingdom.

Unfortunately, said restoration and rule of Jesus will not occur until the enemies of God gather—at the end of the 7 year period—against Him in the valley of Megiddo (Jehoshaphat) for the Battle of Armageddon (Joel 3). Of course, God wins, and along side Him will be myriads of previously resurrected and raptured believers (Jude). These will rule with the victorious Jesus (Romans 8, Revelation 20). The nations and peoples will be sorted like a shepherd separates goats from the sheep (Matthew 25). Disbelieving people and nations will be taken/vanish from existence by the command of Jesus, so that the global Kingdom of Jesus may begin in true harmony and peace.

A long-forgotten phrase that better represents the scriptural, Christian understanding of humanity’s near future (as described above) is “the Hereafter.” It is appropriate, because it conveys that after certain prophecies are fulfilled, humanity will continue here on earth… but in a different way of life, under different spiritual & societal structures and ecology than we presently experience. The dynamic will be otherworldly, being almost a full restoration of the first age of mankind, as described in Genesis 2 and the first verses of Genesis 3 of the Bible. The next age to come will last “1,000 years” (Revelation 20).

THE FINAL JUDGMENT, THE FULL DESTRUCTION OF THIS WORLD, THE MAKING OF A NEW WORLD & THE ETERNAL AGE

Revelation, chapters 20-22, disclose yet another transition of this world and its creatures into an age beyond the Hereafter. Again, a set of horrific events, which could be called the Last Rebellion (Revelation 20), will rise up at the end of Jesus’ 1000 year rule. God will immediately put down the satanic revolt, called Gog & Magog (Revelation 20), and God will usher all humanity (dead and living) of all the ages past into the Judgment Day. Here’s how that will go, according to Revelation 20 and Jesus Himself (John 5:15-29).

Just as he will summon believers (dead and alive) to join Him in the skies before the Great Tribulation), Jesus will summon the dead, from the time frame of His 1000 years rule, to be resurrected. Some of those from that time period will have believed, some not. But, Jesus will also command all of the disbelievers from all times past to be brought up from Hell to stand before Him.

A. Those who did NOT believe the Messiah (Jesus) is God’s Son, the only risen & worshipful Savior of Mankind, will be raised for the sole purpose of hearing their final sentencing to an eternity in a “Lake of Fire.” And, because they chose (in life) to depend on their own paltry merits (compared with the credited perfection that God offered by His Son), Jesus will judge their degree of eternal torment, according to their deeds.

B. Those who DID (in life) believe the Messiah (Jesus) is God’s Son, the only risen and worshipful Savior of Mankind, will be raised for the sole purpose of being fully endowed with eternal life… due to the merits of Jesus having been credited to them by God’s grace and through their faith.

So, the dead at that time (which necessarily excludes those having been raised at the rapture) will be raised. Disbelieving unrighteousness (from before and throughout Jesus’ earthly kingdom) will be raised to damnation… the same damnation which all unrepentant disbelievers must endure; but the believing righteous (from the 1000 years) will be raised to eternal life… the same eternal life which all believers (who came before the 1000 years rule of Jesus) shall enjoy.

This begs the question: where will the righteous spend their eternal life? Revelation 21, as well as Hebrews 1:10-12 and 2 Peter 3 indicate that God will destroy this present Earth and make a new world. At that time, also called The Day of the Lord by Peter, the world will certainly be turned into nothingness by use of fire (2 Peter 3). The new world God makes will be entirely pure, having no pain or sorrow and every bliss with God without end. It will be the eternal age of God directly communing, uninterrupted with His redeemed creation.

CONCLUSION:

The next step in the course of God’s relationship to humans in this world is NOT utter annihilation of the world. Rather, Jesus and His Apostles teach us (from their records in the Bible) that there is at least 1,007 years left before this physical planet’s existence is done. Yes, the people and creatures of Earth and the world itself will undergo horrific events that must take place for all evil things to be made right. The big picture of God’s cleansing and folding up a world, whose creatures rebelled against Him is neither a quick nor painless process. Yet, the progression of these events is superintended by God Himself; and soon the Son of God will bring in another Age of the world and rule it until the time of what will be eternal death for disbelievers but eternal life for those who embrace Jesus (Yeshua) of Nazareth as their rightful Lord and God.

Q&A: “How Good Must I be In Order to be Called a Christian?”

A Facebook friend-of-friend recently posted the following:

To be saved a person must stop smoking, drinking, drugs, and cussing. Attend church on a regular basis, and become a born again Christian. Now are you ready to commit to being a Christian? If not then Hell is your destiny…..If you don't believe me, read your Bible. So if you are still cussing like a sailor, or doing drugs, or getting drunk after you read this then you did not commit to being a Christian and you need to quit pretending like you are one. There is more to being a Christian than just saying you are. God bless and have a wonderful day……

Having seen this, the mutual friend to the one who posted tagged me for a response. Here it is:

One time, similar conversation took place within earshot of Jesus. Here is what happened:

"And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” (Mark 2:17; Luke 5:31; Matthew 9:12 ESV)

So, Jesus presents Himself as a Doctor. If you know you aren't perfectly healthy in relationship with God, then go to the Doctor so he can give you His cure. But, this idea you have to make yourself better before you can be a "Christian," or (worse) that you have no sickness in your flawed human nature, is just stupid.

It is quite a gift Jesus gives us by forgiving us and making us His child—able to partake in His Divine nature. So with that said, the Apostle whom Jesus loved writes this:

"Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! ….Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this earnest expectation, sourced in Him, purifies themselves, just as He is pure." (1 John 3:1-3)

Summary: you can't be good enough to earn merit with God. Turn to Jesus for rescue. AFTER that, you still can't be good enough to repay God or "keep" what you were given (Galatians 3:3). It is a gift. What you can do is live thankfully by aiming for being like Jesus, out of love and because He changed your identity to His child. We can't be perfectly like Jesus on this side of Heaven, but we should want to be transformed into Jesus' likeness as much as we possibly can until then.

We all (especially Christians) have areas of life needing transformation. I have habits and patterns of response… call them addictions, if you will. Everyone has some form of addiction—religious self-righteousness can be an example, as the above person's post reveals. No matter what is our weakness or mortal flaw, the important thing is to stay humbly transparent and keep faith that Jesus is the ultimate Deliverer. Desire to keep a big and open connection with Him! Sheep are safe & fed near the Shepherd; the sick do well when near the Doctor.

Jesus never asked us to "commit to being a Christian." He asked us to turn to Him for rescue!

“Only Begotten:” Taxonomy & the Genetics of the Messiah

Monotheists, who do not believe in the Trinity, staunchly reject the tenet that Yeshua / Jesus is the “Son of God.” To such monotheists, the very notion that God would procreate is absurd.

What is this? God has a son?

On the other hand, trinitarian monotheists see biblical data, which support their belief that Yeshua / Jesus not only is the “Son of God” by personal verbal claim but also by unique birth.

A great focal point of these Trinitarians (of which I am included) is John 1:18, translated by the ‘old timey’ translations as:

18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

(KJV, underscore mine for emphasis)

Other modern translations yield this passage of Greek language as follows:

  • “One and Only Son” – NIV, HCSB, Berean Study Bible
  • “Unique One” – NLT
  • “the Only God” – ESV
  • “the only begotten God” – NASB

As one can witness, the passage presents a deal of difference for translators, not because the Greek language is ambiguous but because theological implications arise, depending on one’s approach to translation. ESV and NASB translators consider it necessary—due to the theological implications of the phrase—to help the text communicate its meaning by adding “God.” Others like HCSB, NIV and NLT stick more closely to the original, reflecting ‘Son.’ But, in an effort to honor the older translations (i.e. KJV), NASB maintains the translation “only begotten,” which it places in tandem with ‘God.’

So, is it proper to translate the passage as “only begotten?” And if so, why? To what end? In his article, Μονογενής = ‘only begotten’? Dr. Daniel B. Wallace recently visited the subject and analyzed the pertinent data in response to Charles Lee Iron’s assertion that translators should return to “only begotten.” The article leads a reader to lean away from “only begotten” in favor of other alternatives.

I largely agree with Dr. Wallace, but I also see room for Iron’s view. “One of a kind,” when the compound mono/GENES is used, deals with the taxonomy of Yeshua (Jesus), His classification upon incarnation (i.e. domain–>kingdom–>phylum–>class–>order–>family–>genus–>species).

Creation scientists use the word baramin to refer to created kinds (Hebrew: bara = created, min = kind). Because none of the original ancestors survive today, creationists have been trying to figure out what descendants belong to each baramin in their varied forms. Baramin is commonly believed to be at the level of family and possibly order for some plants/animals (according to the common classification scheme of kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species). On rare occasions, a kind may be equivalent to the genus or species levels.

(Answers in Genesis: https://answersingenesis.org/creation-science/baraminology/what-are-kinds-in-genesis/  retrieved Nov. 24, 2016)

In writing monogenés, the Apostle John is telling us that, due to virgin conception by the Holy Spirit, Yeshua Nazaret is a completely different and unique kind of human creature, the only generation of His kind. This interpretation sustained by textual data (context as well as lexical value & and usages), both inside the holy Writ and in contemporaneous ‘secular’ texts. It also satisfies both Iron’s and Wallace’s findings and allows for (but limits) the logical ramifications of both sets of findings.

What are the theological ramifications of the interpretation? First and foremost, monogenés deals with Christology as it elucidates Yeshua / Jesus’ genome. He is within the human genus due to Mary’s egg & virgin womb, but He is of an entirely unique genetic platform, due to the Holy Spirit’s fertilization. He is the only direct God / Human hybrid, completely similar to yet unique from the rest of fallen humanity.

Trinitarian Creationists would assert that whereas God breathed life directly into the genus of mankind in the beginning, and whereas humanity fell from that state (corrupting our race, even to our genetic code); in contrast, Yeshua’s human genome and human nature are directly and biologically “of God” or “from/of the Father,” …meaning He is  necessarily the same as God, the Father, in His incarnate state. Jesus is—in nature—the same as the Father. No human alive other than Jesus can claim these features. In other words, the Second Person of the Eternal Trinity (i.e. the Word) was made to become flesh and fully dwell among us (John 1:14), as Humanity 2.0—Yeshua Nazaret. He is indeed begotten by means of Holy Spirit conception, but that fact does not diminish His pre-existence from all eternity. As the Apostle John writes:

John testified about Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’”

(John 1:15 NASB)

It is therefore not incorrect to translate monogenés as “only begotten.” By doing so, one refers to Yeshua / Jesus’ miraculous conception. He was indeed and undeniably biologically produced. But, it is also correct to translate monogenés as “Unique One” or “One and Only Son [of God],” as it specially alludes to the fact that Yeshua is the only one of his genomic kind, which according to Isaiah, can be propagated and recognized by the Father:

…He will see His offspring… (Isaiah 53:10 NASB)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV)

Secondly and lastly, the interpretation holds tremendous theological ramifications that pertain to soteriology. In verses 12 and 13 of John 1, the text reads:

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (KJV)

From these two verses, one gathers that anyone who receives Jesus as the uniquely begotten Son of God, believing on His Name (i.e. referent to his title as Yeshua ha’Mashiach / Jesus the Messiah), will in turn be granted authority (adoptive right) to be titled ‘sons of God’ …after the genus of Jesus, and leaving off the genus of the fallen Adamic race. Yet, more than that, the Apostle writes these are also themselves born “of God,” if in that state of belief. The conferred birth reveals a changed nature (Jesus’) which comes upon those who are, according to Jesus Himself, ‘born again’ of the Spirit (John 3:3-8). Is it safe to say that God rescues and redeems believers down to the DNA level? Absolutely! Those who believe will receive the genetics of the Messiah,

23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed (lit. sperma), but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. (1 Peter 1:23 KJV)

So then, one may conclude that one who receives Yeshua / Jesus of Nazareth by believing he is the uniquely begotten Son of God receives both an exchange of nature (essence) and an exchange of genus (physicality), both of which can only be fully realized hereafter,

Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. (1 John 3:2 NASB)

He will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of His glorious body, by the power that enables Him to subject everything to Himself. (Philippians 3:21 HCSB)

“Just so, come Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20)

IS PLANET X LINKED TO MASS EXTINCTIONS? | UniversityToday.com, April 1, 2016

Space Nottity | Snopes.com, April 7, 2016 “A sensational tabloid article built upon benign statements from a retired astrophysicist to surmise that a “newly discovered” planet could imminently destroy all life on Earth.”

Despite recent hysteria that the world will be destroyed this month (April, 2016), the biblical prophetic narrative gives no indication of such an immediate and complete destruction. Moreover, the Bible (as interpreted by the historical, classic evangelical method) leads one to see that evolutionary theory and its according theory of mass extinction due to comets are in direct contradiction to its accounts.

Does the Bible say anything about comets, asteroids or falling starts in end-times prophecy? YES, absolutely. Revelation, chapter 8, verse 11 describes a great star falling from heaven (our solar system). That star’s name—according to the angel which instructed John the Apostle—is Wormwood. Whether the star is an angel, or whether it is an actual comet, scholars often disagree. Yet, again, according to the historical, classic evangelical method of Bible interpretation, this “star” means Aster… the same word from which English derives “asteroid.” The star’s falling from heaven is the result of a set of judgments sent by God upon those who ‘dwell on earth.’ The asteroid strikes 1/3rd of the waters and makes them toxic. As a result, many die.

The timing of this asteroid’s collision with earth is farther down the biblical prophetic line. There are many signs and events which must take place beforehand. As it is poised to do, if the War of Gog and Magog were to culminate tomorrow, loosely followed (days or months) by the revealing of Anti-Christ [loosely contemporaneous to when the Church is gathered together with Christ], then and only then can we start to calculate this star’s collision with earth. If those things were to happen tomorrow, we’re talking 3.5 – 4 years away at a minimum.

But the Lord has not appointed this doom and wrath for those who have repented toward Father God of sinfulness and have placed trust in Jesus of Nazareth as the only true God & Savior of mankind (1 Thessalonians 5:9). “Flee from the wrath to come! Flee for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us—Jesus Christ” (Matthew 3:7; Hebrews 6:18).

Colossians: Jesus is Better than Special Knowledge, Part 3

In the course of studying the Letter to the Colossians, one quickly notices the Apostle Paul gives a powerful and truthful defense of the Christian faith against gnosticism. “Jesus is better than special knowledge” is the theme of the epistle.

Colossians: Jesus is Better than Special Knowledge, Part 1 — Paul communicates joy and thanks for the Colossian believers just before describing the benefits each believer enjoys with Christ Jesus as Savior.

Colossians: Jesus is Better than Special Knowledge, Part 2 — Paul examines the greatness and glory of the Lord Jesus Christ, contrasted by what the Colossian believers were and did before they received redemption & reconciliation to God through Jesus. He furthermore explains the sure cleansing and reconciliation each believer has in Christ, but the Apostle warns them about wavering from faith in Jesus. These warnings and defenses are part of Paul’s (and every minister’s) struggle to preserve and guide the body of Christ—the Church.

The 3rd part of our study begins at the traditional chapter 2 mark.

2:1-7

Paul continues by explaining how great is his (inner) struggle for the Colossians and the Laodiceans and for all the new believers whom he had not seen face-to-face.

Why is seeing new believers so important to Paul? Even though Paul is absent in body, he is with the believers in spirit (v. 5), rejoicing to hear of their good determination and the firmness of their faith in Christ. But, Paul wishes to see new believers in person (especially the Colossians)…

  • SO THAT their hearts (with the result of being knit together in God’s love)…
    • might be encouraged to reach all the riches that come from:
      • (gaining) the full assurance that comes from understanding and fully knowing God’s mystery, which is Christ…
        • in Whom are hidden all the treasures of riches and knowledge.
  • IN ORDER THAT no one may delude the new believers with plausible arguments.

On these grounds, Paul charges the Colossian believers to continue walking in the Lord Jesus Christ, just as they had received him [with good determination and firmness of faith – ref. v. 5] …

  • being both rooted and built up [solely] in Jesus Christ
  • being established in the faith just as they were taught
    • [by] “abounding” (fig. meditating tirelessly) in those teachings with thanksgiving

2:8-15

And so, Paul begins to warn believers against:

  • [The kinds of] Philosophy and Empty Words (Lies) which are

Paul warns them of these things, because:

  • In Christ dwells the fullness of the Godhead bodily. [He’s not a mere emanation]

This is important, because:

  • Believers have been filled (i.e. baptized) in Him, who is the Head of all (spiritual and physical) rule and authority.
    • In Him, believers were circumcised (showing identification as God’s) with a circumcision made without hands >>[Spirit baptism, see also Romans 6; 1 Cor. 12:13; Eph.1:13]>>
      • by putting off the body of the flesh by means of the Circumcision of Christ (a.k.a. Spirit baptism)
        • having been buried with him in (Spirit) baptism
        • [and] in which (baptism) believers were also raised with Him
          • through faith in the powerful working of God
            • who raised Him from the dead

And also, because:

  • Believers, who were once dead in regards to trespasses (disobedience to God’s Law) and the un-circumcision of the flesh (a.k.a. not belonging to God’s covenant of redemption), …
    •  God has made alive together with Christ…
      • having forgiven all our trespasses
        • by canceling our the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. God set this record aside, nailing it to the cross.
    • God disarmed the (spiritual) rulers and authorities and put them to open shame
      • by triumphing over them in Christ

In other words, JESUS IS BETTER THAN SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE!!!
